Very nice!

It seems the mud pit I’ve been using has pretty much dried up for the season. I noticed our mud-happy truck folk visited the site at least once since the last time I was there (which was several weeks ago, thanks to our illustrious postal service)… The surface is all cracked up… But, underneath it it is still nice and mushy, but without a little bit of extra water to throw around there isn’t much I can do there for this season.

Nevertheless, I did find an area that still has some water in it. There is a chance I can get back to that spot one more time this year, but I’m thinking I’m gonna try to get another spot going and give the people as much time as possible to forget that I’ve been there..

The new suit is very nice. It fits about as well as I expected, and for the price, it is a great little fun suit. It was nice to lie on my stomach and plunge my hands into the gooey remains of my favourite mud pit. I also really liked how the suit handled being covered in mud – all nice and shiny and stuff.

Of course, being me, I’m already shopping for a second one. I have a few things to keep in mind for the second round:

  • Get the thicker fabric offered by Fets Fash. The one I got from China was a ‘weightier’ fabric than I expected, but I would like just a bit more.
  • Consider the micro-fibre ones… A bit more expensive, but they really look great!
  • Pay the extra for custom sizing. The one I have is skin-tight all around, but I’d like the waist to be just a bit more snug. Also, the legs need to be about 4″ longer.
  • Ditch the front zipper. First, it goes far enough down to interfere with a certain body part, and second, it makes putting on and getting off a bit of a challenge, especially with 5 hundred million aggressively hungry mosquitoes.
  • Pay the extra for DHL. Super-saver shipping can go to hell. And the fools actually wrote “Unicolor zentai suit” on the label. Hello guys? Yeah I live in a small town with a feisty rumor mill and incredibly nosy people! Fawk!
  • Pay even more for a good bug repellant that won’t eat the fabric. DEET is great and all, but permethrin promises to be much more fabric-friendly, and, of course, much more expensive.
  • Simply accept the fact that it’s gonna cost 5x more, LOL!

I’m starting to notice the local waterways are starting to drop a little bit and there is some nice looking exposed shoreline popping up here and there. I think it’s soon time to start looking around locally again and hope I can find somewhere that’s a little bit less sandy.

Super saver shipping, huh.

Damp, rainy weather today and expected again in a few days, followed by some excellent temperatures. Things are working out well for me while I wait! 🙂

This one didn’t smell so great either.

It looked really nice from the road. Part of it was back behind the road were it would not be seen. But it had that smell and some funky colored water around, so X marks another fail.

But what about the good news part? My fun suit has officially arrived in the Canada, so only a few more days! (customs will work with me here… right?)

More rains plz!

This past weekend marked another happy fun visit to this year’s choice hole… The water level is getting pretty low, but it’s still beautifully mushy… I am hoping to get one more trip in as soon as I get my fancy new zentai suit… There is a small amount of stormy rainy type weather in the forecast for today. I suspect it will be another week or so before my suit arrives, so I am very hopeful there’s still some puddle left to play in.

If all else fails, the mud itself will probably still be a bit mushy underneath and I will be bringing an empty water jug with me in case I need to go collect some from the other site down the trail. I would like to avoid this, since it’s a lot of work… But the evenings have been pretty cool so all should be good with that.

Here’s another photo of the fun pond…

My happy spot didn’t appear to have been visited since the last time I was there so that helped with the comfort level a little bit. There is still lots of play space there, even if the fun section dries up. The mud there isn’t as deep but it will be wet for much longer so if all else fails, I can just move down the pond a little bit and have lots of play time left.

I took a quick tour of a few other spots I’ve used before. The only one I’m really interested in this year is still quite flooded, but the waters are dropping. I am also tempted to take a trek through the bush near my home since the creek has dropped a good foot or so in the last couple weeks so there might be some shoreline around that might be nice…

So all in all, it’s turning out to be a pretty good fun season so far. Hopefully things continue to go this well for the next two months. I’m probably close to half way through this season and I am dreading spending another entire winter without any mud… But in the meantime, I’ll get as much enjoyment out of it as I can!

Planning around someone else’s schedule :(

Well good news and bad news for this particular babbling.

Deal with the bad news first, I guess. So due to vehicular scheduling my Monday didn’t go as planned. Luckily, Tuesday is forecast to be much warmer in the evening, but unluckily, there are still vehicle scheduling conflicts. So I guess I’m waiting until Sunday now unless the forecast drastically changes. Not to worry, it usually does. I hope it’s wrong about the upcoming chilly spell.

The good news? It rained all day Sunday and hasn’t been overly water-sucking scorching hot since then, so my pit should be good for a while. Also, my suit shipped a couple days early, so it should be here at least 4 or 5 days sooner than I thought 🙂

I just read about some people in France getting sick after taking part in a mud run of some sort. They figure the mud was contaminated. Stay away from the smelly stuff, folks!  That’s certainly unfortunate for those people, and I wish them a speedy recovery.

More goodies, more anticipation, and a measure of hopefulness!

Yeah. So I went ahead and ordered me a nice happy fun suit. I don’t know what to expect. It’s coming from China because they seem to have the market for inexpensive suits. The more I read reviews online, the more I just kinda pray it arrives and fits properly. I customized it with a front chest zipper (just because) and eye holes (because it’s gonna be used mostly in the dark), and a generic size, so I hope it fits as well as I hope it does.

If I decide I really like this enough, I’ll save up some cash to get one of the most beautiful micro fibre suits that I see at Fets Fash… The only problem being that they’re somewhat pricey… But I imagine they’re worth every penny.

So because of the mods I requested, it won’t ship for another week or two. They say July 4 to July 7… And then 1-2 weeks for it to arrive at my house. I fear the mud pit I want to christen it in won’t be suitable any more by then… It’s starting to get a little crusty around the edges already. But, there is significant rainfall forecast for the next week (sure enough, I’m on vacation, so it will rain) so I might get lucky and the pond will have a few weeks of usefulness left in it.

So looking at the forecast again, it looks like it’s gonna be a bit chilly for the next few days. I’m planning a Monday trip because it looks to be the warmest evening for the next while. Hopefully everything works out for me and I can make this happen.

So I have some questions about this suit. It’s gonna have a pretty hard life with the punishment I’ll be putting it through. I see on Fets Fash some suits that are supposed to be made from a thicker material, so depending on how this cheapie suit works out I might opt for that instead of the cushy microfibre… But anyway.

How does one clean these suits? A lot of people suggest doing it by hand. My problem with that is all the spandexy stuff I have seems to capture and hold the fine mud particles of this particular mud pit. I spent nearly 15 minutes trying to get all the mud out of the happy grey ‘pants’ I got last weekend. Cleaning a zentai suit this way is going to be a bit more challenging because of the arms and hands and feets and such. I may have to settle for multiple trips through the washing machine (ie, the rolling barrel kind, whatever they’re called, rather than the agitator kind) and hope for the best…

My mind is full of imagery of the pond’s saturated mud while I was stirring it up from below… It was so inviting. I really hope I will be able to replicate this when I get my new suit. So please leave a comment (anonymous is fine with me) and wish me luck, everyone!

Zentai!

Yeah so after looking around, I’ve decided to invest in a nice zentai suit. There are so many colors and options… But I’m finding them not nearly as expensive as I thought.

There’s a few cheapo ones on Amazon… Less than $40, but there’s no ability to customize it. I found a place that will put a front zipper (neck to navel) and eye holes for me.  I’m really not sure what to expect. The models look really hawt and the suits look nice and tight, but it’s hard to judge from the sizing charts which suit would be best on me. I have this awful feeling I’m gonna spend way more than I want (ie, upwards of $60) and get a suit that’s not as tight as I’d like it to be… But given the nature of spandex suits, I am hopeful the size I choose will be perfect.

Like seriously, who wouldn’t want to wear this gorgeous outfit in a nice squishy pit of mud?

You can keep the boots, though. Since Zentai covers the feet, I wouldn’t even need socks! This, surprisingly enough, would seriously simplify my packing regime. Instead of socks and bottoms and a top of some sort, I could just fold this suit up real nice, and tuck it in the corner of my backpack… It would be small enough that I could keep it and carry it with me, and I wouldn’t have to be so cautious with the bag’s contents if I, say, spend the night at a friend’s house, or leave town for a wedding and want to do some exploring on the way home… Such a great idea.

Anyway, I disgress. I’m having trouble mostly with sizing, but I’m also having a hard time choosing between really shiny fabric or something less inclined to pick up ambient light… I will probably go with the duller black color, or possibly dark brown or dark grey…

But ya know, I can’t help but imagine how much I would enjoy christening a real nice white one… And I would consider it if I were certain it could be cleaned properly and returned to it’s bright white state after swimming in the nearly-black mud that I’ve been playing in. Yes, I’d even accept the risk of being a bright white figure in the darkness of midnight…

Oh and not to be outdone, you can get latex zentai suits in either of those colors… Latex, when properly cared for, would be my absolute first choice, but there’s just too much work involved with latex. It’s difficult to put on, tricky to wash (this being ultra-important), and costs 5x more… But it’s just so stunning. If I ever have some spare cash I’m so getting one (although it won’t be pink!), even if it turns out to be a one-time thing.

Night time christening!

So I went to Crappy Tire to find a smaller, lighter bottle of bug spray. Except I was pretty baked when I got there so I kinda forgot what I was looking for at first and ended up wandering around the store looking for neat stuff I can’t afford. 🙂 Well, I passed by the sports section and saw a bunch of boxes labelled “Bauer Basics Base Layer Pants” !!! So I ended up getting a pair of them… Nearly $40 for just the pants, and there’s a matching top that I didn’t have enough cash for on me. So yeah, this next week or so I’m gonna be buying gas with loonies!

But, it was worth it! They are nice and tight-fitting without being ‘too’ tight. 86% polyester, 14% spandex, nice grey color with just a little bit of sheen that really works well for me 🙂 They hold my junk well and are just right on the legs. I am thrilled. I think I could easily go a size smaller and still have enough stretchy to do what I need… Not a priority due to current budget restraints, but definitely something to consider.

I’m also shopping around Amazon for a zentai suit with a front zipper from the neck to the belly button. I found lots of rear zipper ones, and lots with a front neck-to-crotch zipper, but I really want the zipper to stop at the belly button… The prices I’m finding are quite reasonable consider other one-piece spandexy outfits seem to cost 3x as much… And free shipping too! If it comes to it I would be OK with a rear zipper, but I’ll at least try to find what I need.

It’s also hard to get the proper size. Sometimes I get large and it’s too big, and sometimes I get large and it’s too small. Oh well. Some expensive trial-and-error, but worth it in the end!

So having spent all my money, I was more than ready to christen my new pants! After stopping at home for a snack, I went to the spot.  At this point it was going on 9:30pm so the sun was mostly set but there was enough light left to see where I was going at least.  When I got near the first pit, I saw some headlights, so I detoured into the bush to wait for them to leave. After 15 minutes or so, I hear another truck coming down the trail… I heard it stop at the pit and some chatting, and after another 20 minutes or so he left with the first vehicle in tow. I guess they got stuck in the mud pit there… So I waited a while to make sure I couldn’t hear any other signs of life, emerged from the bush and headed to the fun pit.

When I got there I was thrilled to find the area surrounding my little deep hole had just enough water still on top of it that I could start to dig underneath it, and the mud underneath is already saturated, which saves me stomping around in circles trying to soften it up… It also means that some remaining excess water is flooding into the unsoftened parts, which are still soft but not quite as saturated (yet!), so next time I should have a much larger area to play in…

I still feel uncomfortable leaving my car so close to the entry of the trail. It’s getting pretty obvious that someone has been going to that spot and it’s not a big stretch to figure out that that person owns the car that sits down the road for hours at a time… So I’m going to evaluate options for putting the car somewhere else, even if it means a longer trek… On the other hand, I have maybe a few weeks left at that spot before it dries up too much. The ‘original’ pit will be good for another few weeks after that, but it’s used more often… There is a noticeable dent in the pit from all the trucks spraying mud out of it. But it’s also stirred up more which makes things a bit easier for me… Of course, there’s also more stones there…

I’m planning one more night-long one-man party there, and then I might ditch that spot for the rest of the year to let any heat die down… I wish I could use this spot all year long because the mud is just so incredibly smooth and clean… But, all good things must end!

Quickie

I am once again impressed with the quality of mud I’ve found at my new favourite place… No stones, very smooth, practically no texture but at the same time there kinda is. It’s difficult to describe.

I made a quickie visit, didn’t do much. I just wanted to clear my head because today and tomorrow are gonna be busy days and I need to be able to concentrate. I was in and out in an hour. The spot I’ve been working in is just as I left it so I didn’t even have to spend time prepping it again. LOL

So yeah there were people on quads or dirt bikes or something nearby, on one of the other trails. I’m really hoping they quiet down at a decent time on Saturday. I don’t want to be sitting around all paranoid until 4am like I did back at the deep mush trail of last year.

Speaking of Deep Mush Trail… I may not actually visit that spot at all this year, and if I do it won’t be until Truck Hole Trail dries up too much to be useful… Then after that I have another spot to play in that never, ever completely dries up…

Such a fun summer this is gonna be! I can’t wait till Saturday. Big plans. Lots of time. Nice weather. The whole world of wonderful awaits me!

If only I had friends!

OK Well, actually, I do have friends. And each year I manage to partake in numerous wonderful nighttime parties. This year is a bit different. My ‘stock’ friends who haven’t yet moved away are not nighttime people, so I might be in for a bonfire-less, night-less party season.

Anyway, I’ve thought a few times about having my own little mud pit party with a nice bonfire and a gigantic pit of oozy mud, or maybe several smaller pits scattered around a large property… Who knows. But I sometimes think that might be a really fun idea for mud fans like myself. Not having the loud smelly exhaust fumes and obnoxious redneck bullshit of typical mud races would be really nice.  If I could find a nice, large, relatively private chunk of land with a lake nearby to wash off in, dig a hole (or several) and fill it with fine ‘clean’ material (clean means it’s been sifted to remove stones and twigs and whatnot), set up a nice bonfire pit and fill the place with fun people… Serve meat, and jello shots. Maybe some sorta WAM-themed snacks? lol

I see these kinds of things scattered all over the planet and become awfully jealous of them. But I’m not the person to change this. I have no real ‘WAM’ friends. Most of the WAMmers I talk to just aren’t my type of people. Not to mention when I first found a WAM community back in the 90’s I didn’t exactly make a positive impression, and this has stuck to me ever since. I’ve held this secret of WAMness since I was a teenager, never told my family or friends, hid it from girlfriends and even from people close to me who I trust with everything else. I doubt I’ll ever really ‘come out’ and I’ll probably spend the rest of my life dealing with that.

I even have other fetishes I hide from the WAMmers. Sometimes I change my mind and reveal these things, and they always result in WAMmers telling me how awful of a person I am for contaminating their precious ‘pure’ WAM atmosphere, followed by me going back into hiding.  I’ve learned that if you mix WAM with anything else, you get the anything else, but no WAM. I can’t count the immense amount of my own personal hours I spent trying to make a community that appealed to both sides, which ended in complete and utter failure when I decided it wasn’t worth fighting for.

Despite this, I think I’d make a great party planner. I’m always the dude at the party hanging out in the back area sipping my drink and looking for ways to ensure everyone else has a great time.  I’m constantly thinking of other people and rarely immerse myself in the party atmosphere. It comes from being someone introverted, I suppose. Something that I can’t change, and don’t really want to anyway. But to make a great party, you need friends, and what I’ve got are the wrong type of friends completely. Don’t get me wrong, I care a lot for the friends I do have and would not want to do anything to jeopardize these friendships at any cost. I may be weird, but I’m not a complete asshole!

And so ends this edition of feeling sorry for myself. Carry on!
